Zero harm, on every site.

Exploration, drilling and mining work carries real risk. We build health, safety and environment (HSE) management into every job, and every project runs under the licences, concessions and permits its regulator requires.

In practice

How safety shows up in the work.

Four controls apply to every project in both divisions, from a survey crew to a drilling rig or a gas delivery.

  • Risk assessed first

Every job starts with a documented risk assessment and a safe method of work.

  • Certified equipment

Rigs, vehicles, storage and site equipment inspected and maintained to standard.

  • Trained crews

Staff, drivers and contractors trained and briefed for the work they do.

  • Environment protected

Spill prevention, waste handling and site restoration planned before work starts.

Compliance

Each line of business follows its regulator.

Every project runs under the licences, concessions and permits its regulator requires.

  • OGRAOil and Gas Regulatory Authority

Gas distribution, including LPG marketing, storage, filling and transport.

  • Petroleum DivisionMinistry of Energy

Oil and gas exploration and production concessions and rules.

  • Mines & mineralsProvincial departments

Mineral titles, mining permits and site inspections in each province.

For LPG customers

Using LPG safely at home and at work.

LPG is safe when it is stored and used correctly. These are the basics we ask every customer and dealer to follow.

Everyday safety

  • Keep cylinders upright, in a well-ventilated place, away from heat and open flames.
  • Check the regulator and hose regularly, and replace any hose that is cracked, hard or worn.
  • Close the regulator or cylinder valve when the appliance is not in use.
  • Buy only from authorized dealers, and never accept a cylinder with a damaged valve or broken seal.
  • LPG is heavier than air, so leaked gas collects near the floor and in low spaces.

If you smell gas

  1. Don’t touch electrical switches or plugs, and don’t use a phone near the leak.
  2. Put out any flames and don’t smoke.
  3. Close the cylinder valve or regulator if you can do so safely.
  4. Open doors and windows to let the gas disperse, especially at floor level.
  5. Leave the area and call your LPG supplier, or Rescue 1122, from a safe distance.

LPG has an added odour so that leaks can be noticed. If the smell is strong, leave first and call for help.
